As wheat fields, wooded areas, and barns burned fiercely, extensive security measures were taken to prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas.
The greenhouse fire that started in Dombay village, Lalapaşa district of Edirne, spread to nearby agricultural areas in Demirköy and Tuğlalık villages due to the wind. The fire caused damage to wheat fields, barns, and wooded areas. Numerous fire brigades, forestry teams, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), gendarmerie, and police units were dispatched to the scene. The fire, which has been ongoing for about 6 hours, has been partially brought under control, but the flames occasionally intensify due to the wind. Extensive security measures have been implemented to prevent the fire from reaching residential areas.
Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer is monitoring the firefighting efforts on-site.
