In the Kulu district of Konya, the wheat and barley harvest for the 2023-2024 season has begun across rural agricultural areas, including surrounding neighborhoods. According to Cengiz Öztürk, Chairman of the Kulu District Chamber of Agriculture, barley is cultivated across 330,000 hectares, wheat across 400,000 hectares, and cumin across 30,000 hectares. He also mentioned that the harvest of lentils on 200,000 hectares and chickpeas on 30,000 hectares will commence soon. This year's barley harvest has yielded an average of about 100 kilograms per hectare. However, certain areas and neighborhoods experienced reduced yields due to hailstorms. The harvesting rates for 2024 include 130 Turkish Lira per hectare for barley harvested with combine harvesters, 145 Turkish Lira per hectare for chickpeas and lentils, and 900 Turkish Lira per hectare for manual cumin harvesting. Additionally, the fee for cumin harvesting with combine harvesters is set at 100 Turkish Lira per hectare, while the charge for unloading cumin onto the harvesting platform is 100 Turkish Lira per hectare. Öztürk concluded with well wishes for the farmers' prosperity.
