In Kırklareli, livestock farmers were informed about Brucellosis disease.
The farmers of both large and small ruminants in Kırklareli were informed about Brucellosis disease by the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. Teams distributed posters in villages regarding Brucellosis disease and related lamb, kid, calf wastes.
According to the statement from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Brucellosis is a bacterial disease that affects all large and small ruminants, leading to infertility, offspring waste, stillbirth, decreased milk yield, and loss of breeding value. It was noted that in herds where Brucellosis is first observed, the lambing rate can be between 30-80%.
Even if the born offspring survives, the statement mentioned that the rate of getting pregnant would be low, and even if they become pregnant, they may consistently give birth to offspring. The statement also emphasized that they cause economic losses for the herd. Farmers were advised to report any waste they observe in their herds to the competent personnel at the Provincial and District Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry as soon as possible. It was also emphasized that Brucellosis is a dangerous disease for humans as well.
