In Sivas's Akıncılar district, the harvest of tomatoes and peppers grown with great effort for making paste has begun.
As part of the "Tomato and Pepper Paste Production Project," 220,000 tomato seedlings and 110,000 pepper seedlings were distributed to farmers. These seedlings were planted over a total area of 150 decares. The products, carefully nurtured by the farmers, are now being harvested. Seyit Yıldız, the Director of Agriculture and Forestry for Sivas, visited the farmers to observe the progress.
Director Yıldız explained, "In our province, Akıncılar district, which has a milder climate and a certain tradition of vegetable cultivation, was chosen to reduce agricultural production risks. Our department prepared a project for the cultivation of paste tomatoes and peppers suitable for the local conditions. Under the 'Tomato and Pepper Paste Production Project,' we planned the production of paste tomatoes and peppers with purchase guarantees for producers who are members of the Vegetable Producers Union in Akıncılar. The Sivas Special Administration covered 75% of the seedling costs. A total of 220,000 tomato seedlings and 110,000 pepper seedlings were distributed to the producers. The seedlings were planted on 100 decares of land for paste tomatoes and 50 decares for paste peppers. This project aims to increase production diversity in the region and contribute to the family economy of the local producers. I thank the farmers who have worked hard and contributed to our agriculture and livestock."
