Thanks to the "Sample Garden Project" implemented by the Mudurnu Chamber of Agriculture Presidency in the town of Taşkesti, farmers will become acquainted with new products in terms of production and sales.
Within the framework of the project, farmers are increasing the diversity of products on their own lands and getting introduced to new products in agriculture. Thanks to this innovative project, farmers will observe the growing standards of different products such as aronia, goji berry, honey berry, lavender, artichoke, kiwi, asparagus, and saffron in the sample garden. The project aims to move beyond the commonly cultivated crops in the region, such as corn, wheat, barley, and potatoes, and farmers will cultivate new products. Within the scope of the project, farmers were informed by Agricultural Engineer Muhterem Özsoy at the Taşkesti Municipality Wedding Hall.
Agricultural Engineer Muhterem Özsoy emphasized that the soils in the Taşkesti region are suitable for growing any type of product, saying, "Actually, when I come to Taşkesti as a Mudurnu farmer, I feel sorry for myself. Because Taşkesti is truly a paradise in terms of climate, soil, productivity, and hardworking people. You are not aware of living here. You need to utilize these lands. Let's say you grew these plants. Instead of selling them as fresh fruit or raw material, you need to process them. You grow hazelnuts but you don't process them yourselves, you market them as raw material. Value needs to be added to this. Women's cooperatives are very important in my opinion. By forming strong women's branches and establishing small businesses, you can support Taşkesti. At least you can obtain products with geographical indications. You are in a geography that is difficult to find in Turkey. Because you are a nationalist, hardworking, and strong society who takes care of their land. Our women, especially, are very hardworking. Don't waste this. You can create very beautiful things. Just believe in yourselves and each other."
