During an iftar event in Karamanköy Neighborhood of Altıeylül District, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz, together with Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, announced the good news that agricultural irrigation would be free of charge.

Addressing the residents of the neighborhood after the iftar, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz said, 'I would like to announce good news to all Balıkesir farmers from Karamanköy. Last year, due to low rainfall, water could not be provided to these areas by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) decision. Thankfully, there has been abundant rainfall this year. Agricultural irrigation has been transferred to the Metropolitan Municipality. We say that there will be no irrigation fee this year. It is fully covered by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality. You can submit your declarations starting from March 18th. Our colleagues will come here. You receive the stamp indicating that the fee has been paid by the Metropolitan Municipality on top of the declaration, and then you can carry on with your work. Will you pay a fee for artesian wells? No, we don't charge a fee for that either.'
