The First Purple Potato Harvest in Erzurum’s Pasin Plain Yields Success

The first harvest of purple potatoes, initially planted as a trial in the Pasin Plain under the leadership of the Erzurum Commodity Exchange, has been completed.

The purple potato, rich in nutrients and known for its high antioxidant content, has drawn attention in the region. Hakan Oral, President of the Erzurum Commodity Exchange, noted that they achieved successful yields from the trial planting conducted on a 7-decare area as part of their project with the Eskişehir Hanımeli Cooperative.

President Oral stated, "The fertile lands of Erzurum have yielded high productivity for purple potatoes. Moreover, this high-value product provides a new contribution to the regional economy with its market scope and price advantage." As the spread of purple potatoes across the region is anticipated, high yields have brought smiles to farmers' faces.
