In a written statement, Nihat Çelik, the President of the Turkey Sheep and Goat Breeders Central Association (TÜDKİYEB), emphasized that despite all challenges, breeders continue to produce.
Çelik argued that breeders cannot determine the prices of the products they produce, stating, "Our demand is for prices of both meat and milk to be determined by breeders and producer associations. Breeder associations should play an active role in the market and in price determination. If this is achieved, the producer earns the value they deserve, and as they earn, they continue to produce with even more enthusiasm."
Highlighting that as production increases, consumers will also benefit, Çelik stressed that achieving stability in meat and milk prices is possible by increasing production in livestock.
Regarding the issue of red meat, Çelik proposed that the solution lies in small livestock farming, stating, "Efforts should be intensified to make 2024 the breakthrough year for small livestock farming.
