Buffalo farmers are being supported

In Düzce, significant support is provided under the Anatolian Buffalo Improvement Project in the hands of the public. Esra Uzun, the Director of Düzce Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, visited a buffalo farm in the village of Kuşaçması. During the visit, Esra Uzun gathered information about the buffalo farm and expressed gratitude to the officials of the farm, which qualifies as an exemplary buffalo farm in Düzce.

Esra Uzun stated the goal of increasing the number of buffaloes in Düzce, saying, 'The Anatolian Buffalo Improvement Project, which is being carried out in Düzce, operates with 410 buffaloes, demonstrating an example of efficient livestock farming by caring for and feeding animals with improved breeding characteristics through advanced methods to achieve high productivity in our province. Meat and dairy products approved by our directorate are produced from these animals, contributing significantly to having healthy and quality animal products on our tables. As the Directorate, we aim to increase the number of buffalo farms and animals in Düzce.'

Highlighting that a total of 10.5 million TL has been provided in support for buffalo breeding from the beginning of the project until now, Director Uzun emphasized, 'The Anatolian Buffalo Improvement National Project, whose contract was signed in 2011 in Düzce, has been implemented since 2012. Activities within the project include increasing the performance characteristics of buffaloes, establishing breeding farms, and ensuring the organization of buffalo improvement. The data obtained through project activities are recorded in a system named 'Buffalo Star.' We have 3,000 buffaloes in our province. The project, managed and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, resulted in a total project contribution payment of 1,711,800 TL for 63 breeders with 1,230 buffaloes in 2022. The total support amount provided since the beginning of the project is 10.5 million TL. In addition to the improvement project, in 2022, support was provided for 1,555 female buffaloes in 98 buffalo farms with a total of 777,500 TL, and for 420 piglets in 87 farms with a total of 210,000 TL.'
