In the district of Silifke in Mersin, almond trees, known as the heralds of spring, have blossomed. With the warming weather in Mersin, spring days have arrived, and almond trees in Silifke are in full bloom. Zafer Can, the Muhtar (headman) of Işıklı Mahallesi, which suffered damage to agricultural areas in a forest fire two years ago, expressed satisfaction with the blossoming almond trees. Can stated, "The early almond blossoms for the region for the first time due to the climate characteristics. Some of our trees were burned in the big fire disaster two years ago. These blossoms have given us hope. We will restore all the orchards in our village to their former state because they are our biggest source of income. I wish abundant and fruitful days to our producers."
Cafer Doygun, the President of Silifke Chamber of Agriculture, mentioned that a significant portion of almond trees in the region suffered damage in forest fires, saying, "There are approximately 300,000 almond trees. Many of our trees were damaged due to the fires. However, our farmers remain hopeful and happy. They will be even happier when the blossoms turn into fruits."
Meanwhile, some trees were observed to have small fruits.
