It's harvest time for hazelnuts in Bolu

The district protocol also participated in the harvest.

In Taşkesti, a hazelnut production center in Bolu, producers have begun collecting the hazelnuts they cultivated throughout the year. Mudurnu District Governor Ayhan Kalaycıoğlu, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Zekeriya Ar, and Taşkesti Mayor Saim Çevik also took part in the harvest and gathered hazelnuts. Expressing their support for the producers, District Governor Ayhan Kalaycıoğlu stated, "Taşkesti is a town well-known for hazelnut production in Bolu. When evaluating Bolu, our town has an important position. We came here today to share in the joy of our hazelnut producers during the harvest season. We gathered here to support hazelnut production."

Hazelnut producer Mehmet Yılmaz mentioned the rising labor costs, saying, "I have 8-10 decares of hazelnut orchards. Previously, we used to get close to 2 tons of hazelnuts. I'm not sure if it's due to weather conditions, but the yield has decreased. Due to the high temperatures, the yield has dropped by half. Labor costs are also high; we give our earnings to them. We are left with nothing. Last year, workers were paid 500 lira, but this year they are working for 1,000 to 1,200 lira."
