Selendili cherry producers could not find what they expected.

It was learned that the price of cherries, which was 120 TL last year, dropped to 50 TL in the garden this year. Cherry, which has been created in gardens as an alternative product to tobacco, which has contributed greatly to the district economy for the last 25 years in Selendi, and has become the only source of income for the producer, is exported to European and African countries and is waiting for a buyer this year. Stating that the yield of cherries was high this year, the producers explained that they could not find buyers due to the high yield of cherries and the high yield, and that they expected the prices to increase, stating that the daily workers' wages of 700 TL increased the expenses. Stating that they supply approximately 30 percent of the cherries in Manisa, the producers explained that the prices are at their lowest level and they are making losses. Cherries start to be picked at the first light of the morning in Selendi and are then picked up by private companies and sent to other places, especially Alaşehir, where they are packaged and exported to European countries.
