The increase in fish prices in Zonguldak has diminished interest at the counters.

With the warming weather in Zonguldak, fish prices have seen a rise. While anchovies were sold at 125 liras at the counters, horse mackerel was priced at 50 liras. Due to the high prices, citizens did not show the expected interest in the counters. Fisherman Bayram Yılmaz stated, 'Horse mackerel is 50-60 lira, anchovies are 100-125 lira, whiting is 100-150 lira, varying according to size. It's a matter of supply and demand. When there's a lot, it's cheap; when there's little, it's expensive. It's normal for horse mackerel to cost 50-60 lira where a shoe polish costs 50-60 lira. This year is not looking good. The season will be over by the end of February.
