Toraman: "Our duty is to protect producers and industrialists from unfair competition"
Hacı Toraman, Chairman of the Çarşamba Commodity Exchange (ÇTB) Assembly, stated, “As an exchange, our duty is to protect hazelnut producers and industrialists from potential unfair competition.”
Murat Çan, a Member of Parliament from the Republican People's Party (CHP), along with the CHP delegation, visited the Çarşamba Commodity Exchange. During the visit, President Toraman and MP Çan discussed the opening of the 2024 hazelnut season and highlighted the importance of hazelnuts, a key export product for Turkey, especially as the harvest season begins.
MP Çan emphasized the importance of exchanges in maintaining the competitive balance of the Turkish hazelnut market, stating, “The hazelnut, a significant asset for our country, must be free from issues related to production, storage, price balance, and export. The steps taken by our exchange, which monitors the entire production journey of hazelnuts produced in Samsun and Çarşamba and serves hazelnut producers and industrialists, are crucial for the local community. We will continue to express all issues related to hazelnuts in the Turkish Grand National Assembly to support the development of producers and industrialists in Samsun and its districts.”
President Toraman added, “As we do every year, we continue to emphasize the importance of hazelnuts grown in our region. Our duty as an exchange is to maintain price balance in a way that benefits our local producers and protect them from potential unfair competition.”
MP Çan and Provincial Chairman Mehmet Özdağ invited President Toraman and the ÇTB team to the 'Hazelnut Rally' in Giresun, scheduled for Friday, August 2.
The visit was attended by ÇTB Vice Chairman Şevket Zeren, Secretary General Sercan Yaşar, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly Murat Yaralı, Assembly Members Mehmet Çalışkan, Hüseyin Işık, and Founding Assembly Member Nurettin Öztekin.
