Wheat Harvest at Ziraat Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School
Students of Battalgazi Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, who learn agricultural practices through theoretical and practical training, harvested the wheat they planted on a 200-decare area together with their teachers.
The harvest ceremony held at the Ziraat Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School was attended by Governor Ersin Yazıcı, Provincial Director of National Education Behçet Bakır, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Osman Akar, Vice Rector of Turgut Özal University Prof. Dr. Orhan Gündüz, Institution Directors, and administrators from the Provincial and District National Education Directorates.
Governor Ersin Yazıcı stated that the bread made from the wheat harvested here benefits 15,000 students who are in boarding schools and under the transportation scheme. He said, "We need air, water, and food for life to continue. And for this, agricultural activities are indispensable. Friends who graduate from here strive to serve this society and this country for the development of agriculture and livestock. Turkish farmers produce the best and highest quality products. We have to produce products at world and European standards. The children who graduate from here will continue their lives by either farming or providing technical support to our farmers to achieve this quality, and we will continue to support them."
Provincial Director of National Education Behçet Bakır said, "This facility, established as a cotton production farm in 1965, later served our city as an Agricultural School for many years. Our school, which was transferred to our Ministry in 2006, provides services in agriculture, livestock breeding, food technology, and food and beverage areas. 275 students continue their educational activities in our school, which has a total area of 350 decares. In our school, we provide services in wheat, forage crops, roll turf production, food, bread, and egg-laying chicken production. We aim to harvest over 100 tons of wheat planted on 200 decares at the beginning of the year. Additionally, the bread produced in our school is delivered to our boarding school students and students under the transportation scheme. Approximately 15,000 students benefit from meal services under the transportation scheme," he said.
Following the opening speeches of the ceremony, Governor Ersin Yazıcı and Provincial Director of National Education Behçet Bakır harvested wheat with combine harvesters. Additionally, Provincial Director of National Education Behçet Bakır and Governor Ersin Yazıcı visited and inspected the 25,000 capacity daily bread factory established within the school.
