Early apple harvest has begun in Karaman

In Karaman, one of Turkey's major apple-producing regions, the early apple harvest has started with the summer Gala variety.

With the start of the summer apple harvest, Mehmet Bayram, Chairman of the Karaman Chamber of Agriculture, inspected the harvest and wished producers a profitable season. Bayram noted that with nearly 15 million apple trees, Karaman is currently the leading city in Turkey for apple production, stating, "The apple harvest has begun with the summer Gala variety and will continue until November."

"Apple Harvest Season Started 15 Days Early"

Bayram pointed out that the harvest in Karaman, one of Turkey’s apple hubs, began earlier this year due to the hot weather, starting 15-20 days ahead of schedule. He expressed that producers are currently satisfied with their apples and predicted that apples would sell at good prices this year. This is attributed to reports of apple shortages in some regions of Turkey. Bayram added, "Currently, traders have shown great interest in Karaman's apples. The reason for this is the high-quality apples produced in modern and well-organized orchards in Karaman. With over 15 million apple trees, Karaman ranks first in Turkey for the number of trees and second in production. Karaman is rapidly advancing towards leading the apple industry, which is pleasing to us. Despite some low yields in certain varieties, we believe that apple producers will have a successful season."

"Producers Should Be Wary of Fraudsters"

Bayram also mentioned that the Karaman Chamber of Agriculture warns producers to be cautious of fraudsters during the harvest season. He said, "It saddens us greatly when producers, who have taken care of their products for a year, fall victim to fraud. Therefore, I urge producers to seek assistance from law enforcement when selling their products and to avoid selling to individuals without tax records or a business place using promissory notes or checks."

"Our Apples Are Productive This Year"

Apple producer Çağrı Yılmaz stated that due to the hot weather, they started the harvest 15 days earlier than previous years. He said, "Thank God, we are currently satisfied with our production. Despite the difficult conditions, our apples are productive this year as well. Overall, Karaman apple producers are very pleased with the production."
