Permitted and controlled hemp harvest was carried out in İzmir

In the Helvacı neighborhood of the Aliağa district in İzmir, the first permitted and controlled harvest of hemp, planted for fiber and seed production, has been completed.

The harvest program was attended by Aliağa District Governor Zekeriya Güney, İzmir Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Şahin, Coordination and Agricultural Data Branch Manager Battal Kürşad Sevim, Plant Production and Plant Health Branch Manager Engin Altunoğlu, Aliağa District Agricultural and Forestry Manager Selim Aksakal, Aliağa Agricultural Chamber President Gökhan Edremit, AK Party District Chairman Yaşar Demir, and many farmers.

Under the legal regulations for hemp cultivation in Turkey, the 3D Environmental Technologies Industry firm produced hemp on 22 decares of land in Helvacı neighborhood. The production used hemp seeds of the Narlısaray variety, which is registered by the Karadeniz Agricultural Research Institute. A total of 88 kg of hemp seeds were sown on the 22-decare area. Necessary security measures were taken to protect the production area and ensure compliance with legal regulations. Technical staff from the İzmir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and the Aliağa District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry conducted regular inspections during the crop's development.

The processing and marketing of the harvested hemp are being closely monitored by the relevant companies and authorities.

Mustafa Şahin, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, mentioned in his speech during the harvest that the Karadeniz Agricultural Research Institute's work on hemp highlights the Narlısaray variety for its particularly good fiber yield. Şahin noted, "In the future, local producers will see demonstrations of the planted hemp and will expand planting areas to promote this valuable plant. Planting on large areas instead of piecemeal is important for controlled production and ease of harvest. We will continue to support our producers under these conditions."
