Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu continues his visits to public institutions and organizations for inspections and information gathering.
Governor Zorluoğlu visited the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, where he received a briefing on ongoing and implemented projects in the fields of livestock and agriculture in Diyarbakır and exchanged views on problems and proposed solutions.
During the meeting, Provincial Director Mustafa Ertan Atalar provided general information about the current state of agriculture in the city, planned projects for the development of the agriculture and livestock sectors, and the institution itself.
In his speech at the meeting, Governor Zorluoğlu expressed his satisfaction with the work being done. He said, "Diyarbakır is a true agricultural city. It ranks high nationally in products like wheat, cotton, lentils, and corn. It also hosts a significant animal population. Each year, our irrigable agricultural lands are increasing. With the Silvan Dam coming into operation, almost all of our irrigable lands, approximately 4 million decares, will be irrigated. This means doubling the total agricultural production and adding hundreds of thousands of jobs. Therefore, during my term, agriculture will be a sector we will focus on heavily in Diyarbakır. Our farmers have received and continue to receive significant support from our government, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Large irrigation projects are progressing rapidly. May God bless them. Our role is to take steps to increase and diversify production alongside our farmers."
The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Ömer Coşkun, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Ertan Atalar, as well as deputy provincial directors, branch managers, and unit heads.
